Measure the entire route
The narrowest point may be a gate, eave, air conditioning unit, retaining wall, meter box or turn beside the house. Height, slope and ground protection also matter.
Smaller machinery changes the quote
Mini excavators and compact loaders can work through restricted paths, but they move less material per cycle. Hand demolition, barrows, conveyors or cranes may be needed for particular sites.
Protect the route
Discuss paving protection, fence removal, garden damage, neighbour access and reinstatement before work starts. Temporary access work should be priced clearly.
Photos help, inspection confirms
Send photos and dimensions with the enquiry. A contractor should still inspect complex access before giving a fixed price.
Project checklist
- Gate width and height
- Turns and slopes
- Overhead services
- Ground protection
- Fence reinstatement
- QBCC guidance on deregistering and lawfully decommissioning a pool
- Business Queensland information about demolition licensing
Approval and licensing requirements vary. A building certifier, council and the proposed contractor should confirm the requirements for the property.
